UFC 230 takes place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Madison Square Garden in New York, New York.
Heavyweight winner Daniel Cormier (21-1, 1 NC, 10 KOs, 4 SUBs) will defend his title against knockout artist Derrick Lewis (21-5, 18 KOs, 1 SUBs). The card issuers reside on starting 10pm ET.
Just one pay-per-view following the Khabib-McGregor superfight, the UFC is providing us a heavyweight title match. Plus it just so happens to feature one of UFC 229’s breakout star:”The Dark Beast” himself, Derrick Lewis. It’s 1 thing to score a stunning, last-second comeback win in a fight you were getting dominated. However, Lewis topped that by following this up with the funniest post-fight meeting in UFC history, on the greatest night in UFC history.
That’s 1 way of becoming a star. And today, the one-dimensional knockout artist that never really seemed like a legitimate contender is fighting to get the name under a month after having a beating in the hands of Alexander Volkov. Daniel Cormier’s probably drooling at the thought of an easy paycheck. It’ll also be his first heavyweight title protection.
Regardless of the UFC declaring a banger of a storm involving middleweight hulks Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa, the massive Cuban has said that the fight won’t be taking place. Though we hope this competition happens, we tend to trust the fighter when they said that they are not prepared. Let’s hope he heals up in time.
If those 185-pounders don’t get it on, there are still three mad good middleweight matchups to look forward to. The biggest of these is that a rematch between former champions Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman, respectively rated No. 2 and No. 3. Perennial contender Ronaldo”Jacare” Souza matches former WSOF champ David Branch, with the two guys jockeying for a name position. The branch’s most exciting prospect, Israel Adesanya, puts his undefeated record on the line against No. 6 Derek Brunson. At times,”The Last Stylebender” resembles the second coming of a prime Anderson Silva, and everyone is hoping that this dude is for real.

UFC 230 Betting Lines, Predictions and Picks
Here’s a weird story. In an interview with MMAJunkie only days after the Volkov struggle, Lewis came out and said that he had no desire to headline UFC 230. That he’d already begun eating breakfast snacks and his cardio was nowhere near the amount it needed to be at to virtually challenge for the name.
He finished that interview by saying that it would have a giant paycheck for him to jump into a title fight with a few of the best to ever do it. Later that afternoon, Dana White announced that Lewis will be fighting for the name. Seems like somebody got PAID.
However, the UFC’s greed is showing here. Lewis was almost finished multiple occasions, and it was clear he could not survive five rounds. Now the UFC is placing him onto a card under a month later? That is called exploiting a star turn. And while we adore how honorable DC is, it sure sounds like he’s cherry picking here.
The previous time Weidman and Rockhold fulfilled, the AKA surfer boy deciphered the former All-American wrestler and took the belt from him. Time has not softened the grudge between the two, and it was a close fight until that point. Rockhold has since been knocked out two, suggesting that his chin is a severe weakness. Coincidentally, Weidman endured two brutal knockouts as well before rebounding back against Kelvin Gastelum.
These two middleweights are good everywhere, though they have different strategies in each stage. Rockhold’s submission grappling is topnotch, but Weidman is a stellar traditional wrestler. Weidman can box with all the best of them, but Luke’s unorthodox kicks can do major harm.
Ronaldo Souza can not appear to catch a rest. One of the most accomplished BJJ artists to enter the octagon, he’s been in multiple name eliminators, just to fall short in every one. Beating David Branch likely would not seal the deal, but he can keep his name on a short list of worthy challengers. Branch could vault into the title mix by taking the well-regarded Brazilian.
Israel Adesanya has what required to be a star: an engaging personality and what’s more, an electric fighting style. He’s clearly a special striker, landing all eight limbs with extraordinary accuracy and electricity. Obviously, like all fantastic standup artists, he’s got to pass on the wrestler test, and Derek Brunson – a former collegiate wrestler – is much more than qualified to dish out that.
