Scottish Rugby has questioned whether a misconduct charge from World Rugby has beenright.
Remarks produced by chief executive Mark Dodson with Japan about the possible cancellation of the World Cup match are referred to a different disputes committee.
Dodson had hinted at legal action, once the game was in doubt because of Typhoon Hagibis.
The game went forward and Scotland dropped 28-21 to exit in the group stage.
A Scottish Rugby spokesperson said:Scottish Rugby once more conveys its sincere condolences to those of Japan and all those affected by Typhoon Hagibis which struck last weekend.
We have been able to convey our very best wishes directly to the mayor of Yokohama and the chairman of the Western Rugby Union. We stand together with all the folks of Japan.
After receipt of correspondence yesterday from World Rugby, Scottish Rugby affirms that it has received a note of complaint from Rugby World Cup Ltd.. Scottish Rugby is querying whether the matter is a suitable one for the attracting of misconduct charges.
If misconduct proceeding would be to proceed, Scottish Rugby looks forward to getting a reasonable hearing in this issue. No further comment would be proper at this time.
